Don was born and raised in the small town of Princeton, MN. He attended the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. Upon his graduation in 1975, with a B.S degree in finance, he began his career in the financial planning business. Don continued his education in the early years of building his practice. He would receive a Master’s of Science in Financial Services degree and a Master’s of Science in Management degree. Don also earned the prestigious industry designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

In 1976, Don began his four-plus decade partnership with Grant Lindaman. In May 1982, they co-founded New Era Financial Group, Inc and, in 1986, they co-founded New Era Financial Advisors, Inc. Don serves as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of both firms.

Don offers clients vast experience and the knowledge to help clients achieve the most important goals in their lives. Typically, these goals include achieving an independent and dignified retirement; the education of children and grandchildren; and leaving a legacy for their loved ones and the causes most dear to them. Don specializes in helping clients identify and define their goals and then designing a plan to achieve those goals.

Don and his wife, Linda, live in Eden Prairie, MN. His personal interests include conservative politics, values-driven philanthropy, travel and baseball.
